P.U.N.A. Plants United Nations Of Africa’s Roots.
Hello!
I have enjoyed living organisms (mostly animals, plants, and of course human beings) since I was a little girl living in New York. My parents raised me on a 1/3-acre of property in White Plains (Greenburgh, NY), where I enjoyed manicuring the lawn and landscaping. My mother had indoor plants that added more love and comfort to our home. My father and uncle own the Steadman Greentree Farm, 50 acres, where my siblings and cousins played on the weekends. We ran through the high waist grass down to the stream looking for fish. Now, raising my children in New Jersey, my passion for indoor plants developed during the pandemic. My plant life is more purposeful and starting this business helps educate people…another passion.
My choice of growing African origin plants adds insight and awareness to the living organisms within my home. As an African American woman, knowing my history is essential, and knowing where my plants originated add value. Researching and learning about the history of Africa’s plants has taught me how Asian, British, or German explorers named the plants. I learned how some plants are naturalized in other parts of the world (Mexico, Switzerland, China, etc.), though…in naming or labeling, acknowledgement of countries in Africa is sometimes omitted. It’s time to learn about the original source, Africa’s countries.
Thank you for exploring my website. Your time spent here means a lot to me.
